Proposal for anti-scrap-jumping


Scrap-jumping refers to that during hole punching the retained metal chipping inside the concave mould after the material is cutted will be lifted together with the convex mould and then drop to concave mould surface again. In this case, it may cause accident due to staff’s careless operation on one hand while on the other hand, it may create major production quality problem such as scrapping part or damaging the mould, therefore, preventing the metal chipping lifting has to be solved. 


Frequent factors causing waste chipping rising:

1. Magnetism

2.blanking gap 

3.blanking speed

4. Cutting oil type and volume etc   


Detection for waste chipping rising during nut plate blanking :

The mould of nut plate is designed as progressive die and the manufacture frequency is 25times/min. In the high speed blanking case, vacuum is generated between the bottom surface of the convex mould and waste chipping, which create negative pressure under the waste chipping making the punching head stucked.     


Solution for scrap jumping :

The mould inside wall was designed 0.01mm thickness bump at the depth of 2mm-3mm area. As the convex mould pressing in, the waste chipping will be extruded with bigger friction, which can prevent waste chipping rising.
